Procrastination is the archenemy of productivity. While we all fall victim to it from time to time, procrastinating can become a habit that prevents us from accomplishing our goals. We have five tips to help you avoid procrastination and get busy with life.<\/p>\n

1. Just Do It<\/h2>\n

While that may seem overly simplistic, "just do it" remains good advice for getting small tasks done. The general rule of thumb is that if the task would take less than two minutes to complete, it is best to just get it done.  <\/p>\n

2. Set Mini-Goals<\/h3>\n

Sometimes we procrastinate because a task or a goal seems insurmountable. Try setting mini-goals. For example, going outside for a 30-minute walk today will help you achieve a long-term goal of losing weight.<\/p>\n

3. Make a List<\/h4>\n

Use old-fashioned pen and paper or an app for your smartphone to make a list of tasks. It is harder to ignore errands and tasks this way and you get the added satisfaction of marking it done as you complete each one.<\/p>\n

4. Prioritize<\/h5>\n

When your to-do list seems overwhelming, set some priorities. What must be done? What can be done quickly? What have you been avoiding? Start with those items first, to ease your mind. <\/p>\n

5. Take a Breather<\/h6>\n

Sometimes mental stress causes us to procrastinate. Give yourself a break. Talk to a friend, go for a jog or take a few laps in the pool. Chances are you will return to the task with a fresh perspective and renewed energy.<\/p>\n
